The lotus root is a wonderful vegetable is the root of lotus flowers cultivated many regions throughout the world with numerous health advantages. The scientific name of Lotus Root is Nelumbo nucifera. It belongs to the Genus: Nelumbo,  family: Nelumbonaceae is an aquatic plant. It is believed that this wonderful vegetable is native to India, but now it is also cultivated widely all over the world for domestic and commercial purpose.
