Saffron is one of the natural highly prized spices cultivated in many regions throughout the world with numerous health advantages. The scientific name of Saffron is Crocus sativus. It belongs to the Genus Crocus, family Iridaceae. It is believed that this natural herb is native to the Southern Europe, but now it is also cultivated widely all over the world for domestic and commercial purpose. The Crocus sativus plant develops to around 15-20cm in tallness and bears lavender shaded blooms amid each season which keeps going from October until November. Each bloom highlights perianth comprising of a stalk, known as "style," associating with three "marks of shame" or strings to whatever remains of the plant. These orange-yellow shaded marks of disgrace alongside the "style" constitute "saffron" a prized topping flavor.
