Aloe Vera also known as burn plant or Gheekumari contain over 75 nutrients that can benefit your hair. It contains proteolytic enzymes which naturally stimulate hair growth. Therefore can be used as a home remedy for hair loss. The anti-pruritic properties can relieve scalp itchiness and irritation. Because of its anti-fungal properties, it can reduce dandruff. It helps restore the pH balance of your hair and also keeps it consistently hydrated.
Aloe vera can be used in many different ways to treat your hair problems depending on the type of hair you have.
- Simply apply aloe vera gel using your fingers keeping your hair damp to use it as a standard conditioner. This also provides a soothing effect to the scalp & helps in setting your hair in place.
- Apply a mixture of the same amount of water and aloe and a few drops of an essential oil to use it as a leave-in conditioner.
- Apply a mixture of the same amount of olive oil and aloe gel evenly on your hair to use it as a deep-clean conditioner.
Hair Mask using Aloe vera, Egg or Onion:
You can apply a hair mask of aloe vera either with egg or onion for hair growth. Mix eggs yolks, aloe vera, and coconut oil or olive oil to make a smooth paste. Apply the aloe vera egg mask on your hair and scalp ensuring that your roots are covered in this mask. Wash your hair with cold water and a mild shampoo and conditioner after 30 to 45 minutes.
Alternatively you can apply a hair mask of onion juice and aloe vera gel. Apply a mixture of aloe vera gel, a mild shampoo and lemon juice for greasy hair. Rinse it off after 10 minutes with cold water.
Aloe vera gel:
Take fresh aloe vera gel and massage it on your scalp 20 minutes prior to your shower. Leave it on for a minimum of 20 minutes and wash it off with a mild shampoo and conditioner for itchy scalp.
Aloe vera gel, lemon juice and olive oil Mask:
Apply a mixture of Aloe vera gel, lemon juice and olive oil on your hair for 30 minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and conditioner for split ends.
You can apply aloe vera gel on your just washed hair and scrunch it up for defined curls. You can use curling products after the application of aloe vera for more defined curls.
Aloe gel, Honey and Apple cider vinegar Mask:
Apply a mixture of few drops of aloe gel, 2 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for softer hair. This mixture is ideal for rough and brittle hair as it adds moisture and shine to your hair while strengthening your hair at the same time.
Aloe vera gel and Almond oil:
Apply a mixture of aloe vera gel and almond oil on the scalp and hair for dry hair. Let it penetrate the roots for at least 20 minutes to give you the complete effect.
Aloe vera gel, Coconut oil and Curd Mask:
Apply a mixture of 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 6 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and 4.5 tablespoons of curd on your hair for 30 mins for frizzy hair. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and conditioner after that.
Aleo vera as Post Hair styling Serum:
You can also use aloe vera gel as post hair styling serum. Applying a very small quantity of the gel over your hairstyle can give you a lustrous hairstyle immediately.
Aloe vera for Grey hair:
Aloe vera can also be used for grey hair. For this keep fresh juice of amla in an iron bowl overnight and mix fresh aloe vera gel to this stored amla juice. Store this mixture for a week and apply daily. To get visible difference in hair color you need to do this for at least 3 months.
Aloe vera for Treatment of Dandruff:
Aloe vera can be used for the treatment of dandruff. For this mix aloe vera gel with coconut oil and cook this mixture over a low flame for 30 minutes. Get this concoction to room temperature and massage it gently on the scalp and hair spreading it evenly. Wash it with a mild shampoo and conditioner after 3 hours. Alternatively, massage a mixture of 2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of yogurt and olive oil on your scalp for 15 minutes. Wash it with warm water after 30 minutes. You can use this hair mask once a week.
Also a mixture of 12 to 15 drops of neem oil and around 2 to 3 tablespoons aloe vera gel can be applied over your scalp spreading it evenly. Massage it for 20 minutes and leave it on for the entire night. Wash it off with a gentle shampoo and conditioner the next morning. You can do this twice a week for effective dandruff removal
To get fresh Aloe vera gel a leaf of aloe vera either from a store or from your garden and the yellow bitter part and wash the leaf to remove all the residual yellow stuff. Cut the edges of the leaf. Thinly slice the top layer of the leaf and scoop out the gel from the leaf. Now you can use this fresh gel according to your requirement to get long, lustrous and glossy hair.
