Bokaro

Bokaro, is situated in the easternmost part of Jharkhand and closer to West Bengal.

Bokaro is one of the most well-planned cities in the country with lakes, greenery and beautiful parks which make it a place suited for relaxation and peace.

Located on the banks of River Damodar, it is the largest producer of steel and iron in the country and houses some of the biggest factories. Bokaro, is situated in the easternmost part of Jharkhand and closer to West Bengal which explains the Bengali influence in its culture.

Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park, established in the 1980 is famous for its rare collection of big cats such as White Tigers and Asiatic Lions. The zoo houses many amazing species of animals and plants and is a truly fascinating place to visit for any age group. It also has a toy train and boating facility available in its artificial lake.

The Parasnath Hill is a hillock situated in the Girdih district of Jharkhand a few kilometers from the city that is of great religious importance to the Jainism.

It is 1350 meters high hill where some temples are dedicated to the tirthankars. It is believed that around twenty out of the twenty-four tirthankars attained salvation.

Bokaro Steel Plant is the largest iron and steel complex of India which is located in the steel city of Bokaro. Located along the Damodar River, this plant is regarded as the country's first Swadeshi Steel Plant with maximum investment going into materials, equipment and R & D. You can visit the city to see and understand the amazing process of steel making in this plant starting from Raw Material Handling, Coke Ovens, Blast Furnace to Steel Melting Shops and Rolling Mills.

The City Park of Bokaro is composed of one giant artificial lake and three artificial island along with amazing greenery. The city park is a lovely place with greenery, lake and beautiful restaurants along the lake's shore for spending some quality time with family and friends.

Garga is a tributary of the Damodar River that flows on the southern parts of the city of Bokaro. A dam was constructed on it in the 1950s to make it the first such river valley project in the country. The power generated from the dam and the water is used for industrial and civilian purposes of Bokaro. Its picturesque setting with greenery all around and the wonderful river makes it perfect for a picnic spot.
