Chunambar is a small village located along Cuddalore Main Road, around 8 km from Pondicherry that has boat houses as the main attraction of the place. This serene town is visited by tourists for its beach, which is know as Paradise Beach, situated near the mouth of the backwater. It is a perfect place for one to spend a day out playing water sports and bathing in the sun. A short cruise is also organized for the visitors which gives them a fantastic overall view of the serene beauty of the waters. One can also spot dolphins playing around in the water.
One can spend a relaxing time at the beach by alongside the waters as it provides a serene environment away from the noise and fast-moving life of the city. Chunnambar is surrounded by greenery all over which offers a beautiful view.
The stream of water alongside Chunnambar is a natural stream and is not very deep. There is a shelter provided which houses the bags and also offers some food and water bottles. Changing rooms are also available.
An accommodation in the tree-house for an overnight stay is a must do while you are in Chunambar as the accommodation provided is full of delightful surprises including being able to watch the sunrise and hearing the birds chirping.
The three tree top houses that offer you the bliss of eco-tourism. You can read a novel, paint, listen to music, meditate or even stay overnight, all on the top of a tree. 'Sunrise Panorama' which is a two storey tree top house, gives you an unrestricted view of the backwater up to its mouth. 'Palm house' on the other hand overlooks the artificial pond and the park. 'Nest bird' is the perfect abode for the adventure loving folks. It has a rope ladder that leads to a small balcony.
Boating, boat tours of the backwater, trekking and picnics on the beach are some other facilities which are offered to the visitors. Various kinds of rental boats (speed, motor, sail, rowed, paddled and pedalled) in addition to beach volleyball and other beach sports are available here. The backwater also has a restaurant named Seagulls which is a lounge that offers multiple cuisines. The restaurant too has a view of the backwaters. It is an ideal setting for a theme party or an offbeat get-together. It also serves food in the huts just outside the restaurant. You can also order a picnic lunch to the beach and you will be served there in style.
