Polycystic Ovarian Disease or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is becoming a common condition among the women of reproductive age. This condition is usually caused due to hormonal imbalance and lifestyle. PCOD or PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Disease or syndrome) occurs when level of sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone of women go out of control. These imbalance of hormone level will induces growth of small ovarian cysts which results into pregnancy related issues.
In polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD), the patient will have multiple small cysts in her ovaries . These cysts occur when the regular changes of a normal menstrual cycle are disrupted. The ovary is enlarged and produces excessive amounts of androgen and estrogenic hormones. This excessive secretion of hormones along with the absence of ovulation, may cause infertility.
Being overweight or obese has been directly related with PCOD. Genetics also plays a vital role for this condition. Women with PCOD can have complications, such as infrequent menstruation, thinning of hairs, excessive secretion of oil on the skin, lack of appetite, problems in conceiving and many more.
It is extremely important to control PCOD as soon as it is diagnosed. If left untreated, this condition can lead to infertility, miscarriage, heart disease, diabetes and uterine cancer. PCOD is a strong independent risk factor for developing diabetes. Women who experience PCOS in young adulthood are at higher risk for diabetes and fatal heart problems later in life.
One of the best remedies for PCOS is cinnamon. Cinnamon can reduce insulin resistance significantly which is the main cause for both diabetes and PCOD. Cinnamon can decrease the amount of glucose that enters the bloodstream after a meal by interfering with numerous digestive enzymes, which slows the breakdown of carbohydrates in the digestive tract.
Cinnamon also reduces the occurrence of Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH,) which also contributes to the occurrence of PCOD. It also helps in regulating the frequency of menstrual cycles among women with PCOD.

Start your morning with a cup of cinnamon tea. You can choose any kind of tea as per your taste. Cinnamon can be added to both milk tea and black tea. Try to have it without sugar as it could reduce the effectiveness of cinnamon.
Cinnamon is a versatile spice that adds flavor to everything from curries to desserts. You can prepare cool and refreshing drinks by sprinkling some cinnamon powder in your smoothies and shakes. The sweet aroma of cinnamon will enhance the flavors of different fruit when you do seasoning of your fruit salad with cinnamon. It is a good way to include this spice in your daily diet.

You can have a drink of lemon, cinnamon and honey in boiling water that can help you in losing weight and reduce the effects of PCOD. To make this beneficial drink, boil a glass of water with a stick of cinnamon and then add a spoon full of honey and a few drops of lemon. It is advisable to have this drink on an empty stomach in the morning.
