Mango is one of the healthiest fruits you can give your baby once she starts having solid.You should always offer seasonal fruits to your baby as it is not only tasty but also packed with nutrients. It easily digestible, improves the eye vision, prevents microbial infections, helps in brain development. It is also low in calories.

Digestion: Mango is rich in fiber which helps in digestion. It also contains biochemicals and enzymes like terpenes, esters, and aldehydes that helps in digestion and prevents constipation. It makes bowel movement easy in babies.
Eyesight: Ripe mango is rich in vitamin A, which is required for vision development in babies. It also contains potassium,iron, protein,vitamins C and B.
Anti-microbial: Mango fight against the microbial attack that helps your baby developing a common cold,and other common illness. So include mango in your baby's diet on moderation to keep your baby away from diseases. It does not cause  acidity in babies due to the low acid content.
Immunity: Avocados contain beta- carotene that is helpful for boosting immunity in babies. Carotenoids help remove the free radicals from the body. So include mango in your baby's diet to protects them from infections and illnesses. Mango also prevents heart disease and cancer.
Brain development: It helps in brain development by improving the baby’s memory and concentration as it is rich in vitamin B6.

When Can Babies Eat Mango?

You can introduce mangoes to your baby in between 8 and 10 months. Some baby can digest mangoes from the six months, without any trouble. If your baby's digestion problem,it is best to wait until she is about 10 months to 12 months old so that he can digest the solids properly and get the benefits from it. However, it is advisable to consult a doctor before adding any new food to your baby’s diet.

Mango Allergy In Babies

There may be allergic reactions to babies as mangoes are tropical fruits. It is recommended to wait until eight months of age to give any tropical food to babies. But the chances of having allergic reactions are rare. Your baby may have a rash around the mouth or the bottom if he get the allergy. Generally mango skin or sap cause the rashes. If your baby comes in contact with mango skin, she may get rashes not because of eating mango pulp.

How To Select And Store Mangoes?

Select a mango that is fresh and gives out a nice aroma with out any signs of bruises, nicks, blemishes or cuts. The skin of the mango should have a uniform color and can have a few brown dots. The color may varies in mangoes like yellow-orange or reddish-orange or green. Check the softness by squeezing the mango. Ripe mangoes are soft and sweet in flavor. Unripe mangoes are sour in taste. Juicy mangoes contains fiber-filled flesh and soft mangoes have hard flesh. Ripe mangoes can be stored in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.

Yummy Mango Recipes For Babies

Mango puree

Ingredients
A Ripe mango

How to:
Wash mangoes thoroughly to remove bacteria.
Rinse the fruit under running water and dry.
Peel the fruit and take out its pulp in a bowl.
Mash the pulp using a fork or blend it in a blender to get the smooth puree.
Feed this mango puree to your baby using a small spoon.

Mango and carrot puree

Ingredients
1 ripe mango (peeled and chopped)
2 to 3 carrots (peeled and chopped)
1/2 cup water

How to:
Wash mangoes and carrots thoroughly to remove bacteria.
Rinse the fruit under running water and dry.
Peel and chop the fruits.
Add carrots and mango into a cooker and with half cup water.
Cook for 10 minutes.
Mash the contents with a spoon and feed your baby once it is cool down.

Apple mango-yogurt puree

Ingredients
1 ripe mango
2tbsp yogurt
half cup apple juice

How to:
Rinse the fruit under running water and dry.
Peel the fruit and take out its pulp in a bowl.
Mash mango pulp until smooth.
Add yogurt, and apple juice to get the desired consistency.

Mango rice pudding

Ingredients
1 cup mango slices
2 cups coconut milk
1/4 cups brown rice
1/4 cup banana mash
   
How to:
Cook the rice and milk for 25 minutes in simmer.
Keep stirring to avoid lumps.
Add mango slices and cook for a few more minutes.
Once it is properly cooked switch off the gas.
Add banana mash it is cooled.

Mango juice or milkshake

Ingredients
1/2 cup mango pulp
1/2 cup water
2tsp sugar
1/4 cup milk

How to:
Blend all the ingredients in a blender.
If desired, add a little water for desired consistency.
