The chronic disorder where the patient undergoes severe muscle pain, fatigue, restlessness and pain in the joints is called as Fibromyalgia. This is also known as fibromyositis or just fibrositis which is more common in women than men. However, the exact reason that causes this is unknown.
Fibromyalgia can be a genetic disorder, or can be due to hormonal imbalance. It could also be due to trauma caused to the brain or spinal cord. Frequent bouts of migraine, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), joint disorders, insomnia and bouts of anxiety and depression are the most common symptoms of this pain.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia:

  • Stiffness in the joints
  • Severe pain that does not recede
  • Feeling tired and restless throughout the day
  • Sleep disorders, insomnia
  • Feeling depressed most of the time

Consult a doctor immediately if:

  • There is no relief from pain in spite of medication
  • Sleeplessness is not cured with medication
  • Anti-depressant drugs do not work
  • Day-to-day life is affected badly due to the disorder

While there is no definite cure for this disorder, there are some excellent home remedies for fibromyalgia pain. These remedies will help you getting relief from the symptoms, rather than a permanent cure. These include:

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for Fibromyalgia Pain:

ACV acts as a great balancer of the pH levels in the body and enhances blood circulation in the body. It also acts as an oxidative stress buster and helps address symptoms of Fibromyalgia like gastrointestinal imbalances, constant fatigue and restlessness, migraine headaches, joint aches and inflammation. It is an effective ingredient that can be used for treating fibromyalgia Pain which will relieve inflammation. Because of its excellent anti-inflammatory properties, it is also used extensively for treating burn injuries. APV is an excellent disinfectant and acts as a great antimicrobial agent, and helps destroy the germs that fix themselves on the surface of the skin.
ACV may taste a bit odd, being an astringent. Hence it is advisable to add a bit of organic honey while consuming it. Moreover, honey also helps by enhancing the immunity system and makes this combination a good home remedy for Fibromyalgia.
Mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of undiluted apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water. Add a bit of honey if the taste is unpalatable and drink the mixture twice daily for a month.

Physical Exercises for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Regular exercise keeps the muscles from wasting away and helps restore the body to its normal condition. Exercising helps boost the levels of endorphins which are responsible for fighting the pain caused by this disorder. A positive mental state will be formed by doing regular exercise. This helps reduce the depression caused by the painful effects of this disorder. In the beginning it would be rather difficult to cope up with the existing pain and the pain that is caused by exercising. However, once you get into the routine, you will find out that exercising is one of the best home remedies for Fibromyalgia.
Brisk walking for at least 25 minutes daily and low impact exercises three times a week is recommended. You can also involve in flexibility exercises, balancing exercises and aerobic conditioning exercises. Stretching and bending exercises can also help. If the pain caused by the disorder is too severe, and you are unable to maintain a strict exercise regimen avoid exercising.

Acupuncture and Acupressure for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Acupuncture and acupressure are ancient methods of treatment that help in restoring the levels of energy in the body, thus curing most symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Consult your physician or neurologist or physical therapist who will be able to guide you a qualified acupressure experts or acupuncturists. It is better to follow a regimen of meditation, exercises, body massages and other therapies simultaneously along with acupuncture and acupressure to obtain best results.
Consult your doctor if the pain persists and the disorder does not show signs of improvement.

Yoga Asanas for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Different yogic poses such as pranayama, savasana, balasana and bhujangasana help keep the disorder in control and make excellent home remedies for Fibromyalgia pain. Pranayama is basically a breathing exercise. While sitting cross-legged (sukhasana), first breathe in through your left nostril holding your right nostril closed. Hold your breath inside and exhale through your right nostril. Next breathe in through your right nostril, holding your breath and exhale through your left nostril. This comprises one count. Try to do a minimum of 10 such counts. The ratio for inhaling, holding your breath and exhaling is 2:3:1. You can practice pranayama (breath control) for 15 to 20 minutes daily. Practice the savasana (corpse pose) pose for 10 minutes, balasana (fetal posture) for 5 minutes and bhujangasana (cobra pose) for 2 minutes daily.
Avoid doing yoga asana if the pain caused by the disorder is too severe, and you are unable to execute the yoga poses correctly. 

Epsom Salt for Fibromyalgia Pain:

As epsom salt is made up of magnesium, sulphur, and oxygen, this inorganic chemical salt is also referred to as magnesium sulphate. The name is derived from the mineral called epsomite that is found in the place called Epsom, which is in Surrey County in UK. The natural springs found in this hilly area are saline in nature. Applying Epsom salt on the skin, or taking Epsom salt baths are good for the skin, and help fight the painful conditions caused by Fibromyalgia. It offers instant relief from the itching or any burning sensation you feel and prevents the growth and multiplication of bacteria and fungus. Epsom salt is a great home remedy for Fibromyalgia.
Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt powder with some warm water in your bathtub and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Repeat the process three times a week for a month or so to get the result. Consult your doctor if the pain persists and the disorder does not show signs of improvement.

Turmeric and Milk for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Turmeric is rich in a compound called curcumin, which has excellent curative properties and helps relieve the pain caused by Fibromyalgia. It also gives immense relief in the stiffness in the joints caused by this disorder. It is also an excellent antibiotic and helps kill harmful germs of the body. Turmeric is also used for treating kidney disorders and acts defensively by building a strong immune system, which makes it a good home remedy for Fibromyalgia.
Boil a glass of milk and add two teaspoons of organic Turmeric Powder. Drink the Turmeric milk hot just before bedtime. Continue the process for a week to ten days to get best result.

Cod liver Oil for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Cod liver oil is very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which are unsaturated fats that can decrease inflammation and neuropathic pain caused by Fibromyalgia. These fatty acids also help reduce the severe joint pain caused by this disorder and reduce the stiffness associated with this painful condition.
In addition to this, it is better to add fatty fish such as herring, anchovies, tuna, salmon and sardines in your daily diet. It is also advisable to consume flax seeds, walnuts, soyabean oil and canola oil which are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. You need to consult your doctor before including these Omega-3 fatty acid rich foods in your diet if you are on medication and take anticoagulant drugs.
Mix one or two teaspoons of cod liver oil in a glass of warm water and drink it before bedtime. Continue the process for a month or so.

Ginger and Honey for Fibromyalgia Pain:

The amazing anti-inflammatory properties of Ginger help reducing the swelling in the joints caused by Fibromyalgia. It also has excellent pain-relieving properties that are a great help in relieving the severe joint pain caused by this disorder. Honey is a natural medicine which has excellent antimicrobial properties and helps build up the immune system. The combination of these two remedy works as wonder for people suffering from Fibromyalgia Pain.
Boil two fingers of fresh gratted ginger in a glass of water. Add four tablespoons of pure, organic honey to the mixture and allow it to cool. Drink this concoction twice daily for a month or so.

Cayenne Pepper for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Capsaicin is found in most spicy peppers which is a great home remedy for Fibromyalgia. It is the main ingredient that makes the peppers hot to taste. It is a topical medication and has been used extensively for relieving pain. The hotness of this ingredient helps numb the pain caused due to Fibromyalgia. That is why it is very effective in curing various nerve pains, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and joint pains. Apart from being effective in curing psoriasis and mouth sores, it also alleviates back pain, muscle pain. Cayenne Pepper extract can be consumed regularly for better result. Alternatively, you can add generous quantities of Cayenne Pepper in your daily food. Applying Capsaicin cream on the inflamed skin and joints gives relief. Repeat both processes for a month for best results.

Green Tea for Fibromyalgia Pain:

Green tea is very rich in antioxidants. Moreover, it contains Quercetin, which is an anti-inflammatory that helps reduce the swelling caused by this painful disorder.
Green tea is an excellent home remedy for Fibromyalgia as it helps relieve the pain and gives relief from stiffness in the joints. Drinking green tea also helps boost the immune system and fight against infections. Boil a cup of water and add two teaspoons of green tea. Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes and drink the tea while it is hot. Repeat the process twice daily for a month. Consult your doctor if the pain persists and the disorder does not show signs of improvement.

Vitamin D supplement for Fibromyalgia Pain:

People with FM often have low levels of vitamin D. Taking vitamin D supplements can make people with FM more physically better and experienced less fatigue. Talk to your doctor before taking vitamin D supplements, as too much can be toxic. FM pain can be minor or serious enough to interfere with daily activities. If these home remedies does not work, you can try some pain reliever.
Over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium are often recommended. These medications can help reduce inflammation, minimize muscular aches, improve sleep quality
Fibromyalgia can be a lifelong condition that causes pain, fatigue, and tenderness. While there is no single cause, there are many treatment options available to provide relief from FM pain.
There are plenty of treatments from medication to physical therapy that you can try if one doesn't work for you . Talk with your doctor about all options. You can still live a healthy, active life with FM.
