Melanomas can develop anywhere on the skin, but certain areas are more prone than others. It is most likely to affect the chest and the back in men where as in women, the legs are the most common affected area.

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer that arises when pigment producing cells known as melanocytes mutate and become cancerous. Most pigment cells which produces melanin are found in the skin. But melanoma can also occur in the eyes known as ocular melanoma and other parts of the body, including the tissues around the brain and spinal cord and the intestines. It is rare in people with darker skin. It can be dangerous than the other forms of skin cancer as it is more likely to spread, or metastasize to other parts of the body, causing serious illness and death. Cutaneous or skin melanomas are very difficult to recognize. Most melanomas can be cured with relatively minor surgery if detected in early stage. White ancestry, fair skin, light hair and light-colored eyes, a history of intense sun exposure, close blood relatives with melanoma, and moles that are unusually numerous, large, irregular, or funny looking are the risk factors for melanoma.

The prevention and treatment of melanoma can be done naturally also. These include:

Astragalus:

Astragalus is also known as Astragalo which belongs to the legume family. It is one of the safest and most effective home remedies for Melanoma. Astragalus extract has amazing anti-inflammatory properties. As it is a great antioxidant, it helps in boosting the immune system and restoring the skin to its original texture.
Boil one teaspoon of Astragalus extract powder in a glass of water and allow it to steep for a while. Strain and drink while it is warm.You can repeat the process as long as required. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after prolonged use.

Eggplant  or Brinjal:

Eggplant, also known as brinjal contains an active phytochemical known as Solasodine rhamnosyl glycosides. This is normally found in all plants belonging to the Solanaceae family including vegetables such as brinjal or eggplant, tomatoes, bell peppers, and potatoes.
As brinjal lose part of the medicinal value when cooked, it works more effectively on melanoma when consumed raw. Start consuming raw eggplant as soon as possible to stop the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body. You can also crush and apply the extract of eggplant directly on the affected areas or even mix it in vinegar and apply it as a cream or lotion. Dice 2 to 3 eggplants and grind to a paste. Mix one teaspoon of vinegar to the paste and apply the paste on the affected areas. Repeat the process as long as it is required. Eggplants are one of the safest natural cures for skin cancer. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after prolonged use.

Turmeric:

Turmeric is considered as a wonder root with miraculous healing properties. Curcumin that is present in turmeric, has wonderful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. It has been used as folk medicine for ages and has excellent antibiotic and antiseptic qualities. The antioxidants present in turmeric help protect the skin against damage. Turmeric is great spice that is used as a natural treatment for skin cancer.
Start your day with a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Mix one teaspoon of organic Turmeric in a glass of warm milk and drink it either in early morning or before bedtime. Continue the process for a month or so. It may also be added in your daily cooking to as many dishes as you can such as soups, vegetables, salads and so on. Green Tea:

Green tea is one of the best home remedies for melanoma. Green tea is loaded with polyphenols that are rich in antioxidant properties. Moreover, the substance epigallocatechin gallate that is abundantly present in green tea helps stopping the spread of Melanoma and also destroys the existing cancerous cells.
Boil a glass of water in a small bowl and add one teaspoon of green tea leaves. Let it steep for 5 minutes. Strain and drink the tea hot. Repeat the process twice daily for a few days. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after prolonged use.

Garlic:

Garlic is a wonder herb that has some amazing medicinal properties. It is an excellent antibiotic and helps in boosting the immune system. It has been found to be very effective in protecting the skin. In addition to consuming it raw, the juice extracted from raw garlic may be applied on the skin for its beneficial properties . 
It has valuable anticancer properties and is useful in preventing many types of illnesses. It has anti- tumor benefits.
Wash, peel and crush 3 to 4 pods of raw garlic to a paste. Add them to a glass of warm water and add 2 teaspoons of pure, organic honey to it. Drink it twice daily. Repeat the process for as long as required.
Alternatively, add garlic in your daily cooking. It can also be added raw to food items such as soups, vegetables and salads. Garlic goes well with most Indian recipes, make it easy to add it in your daily diet. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after prolonged use.

Greens and Colored Vegetables:

Certain vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes and spinach have some excellent healing properties. They help maintaining the levels of Omega 3 and 6 oils in the body. Omega 3 and 6 are vital in treating melanoma skin cancer. Watermelon and carrots are rich in Beta-carotene. Tomatoes and papaya are rich in Lycopene. Hence consuming these vegetables raw makes great natural cures for skin cancer.
Few vegetables can be consumed raw  such as tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers etc. You can add sweet potatoes, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables in your diet.
You can have a glass of watermelon or spinach juice daily. Use tomatoes in your salad. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after prolonged use.

Beetroot:

Beetroots are rich in a chemical known as Sanguinarinem which can counter malignant cells. Beetroots can be used as medicine for treating digestive disorders and also as an effective antimicrobial agent. Consuming beetroot regularly helps cure Melanoma, making it one of the easiest natural cures for skin cancer. However, diabetics should not consume beetroot juice as it tends to increase blood glucose levels.
Wash, peel and grate 2 medium sized beetroots. Mix a bit of lemon juice and eat them raw. Alternatively, make beetroot juice and drink. You can also boil the veggie with some salt until soft and eat with your meal.

Red Raspberries:

Allantonin and ascorbyl that are present in abundance in raspberries impede the proliferation of tumorous cells, thereby slowing down the spread of the disease and also reversing it. Raspberries can be eaten raw or crushed. Alternatively their pulp can be applied to the affected areas.

Ginger Tea:

Symptoms like nausea or vomiting can be relieved by drinking ginger tea. Ginger tea also helps in digestion and improve the appetite to a large extent.

Natural Antioxidants:

Consume foods that contain antioxidants such as brussels sprouts, pistachios, green tea, egg yolks, zucchini and several herbs, garlic, and cocoa. Citrus fruits and cabbage can also be added to the list.It is a good way to counter check the harmful effects of too much sunlight. They all effectively reduce the risk of melanoma cancer. 

Tea Tree Oil:

The active compound Terpinen-4 oils present in Tea Tree oil extracts work on the cancerous cells and helps in repairing the skin. It also has an invigorating effect on the immune system and enhances the growth of new tissues by repairing skin lesions. Tea Tree oil is one of the best natural remedies for Melanoma which can be applied locally few times a day for optimum effects. It acts as an antifungal and has bactericidal and antimicrobial importance.
Apply one or two teaspoons of undiluted Tea Tree Oil on the affected areas and allow it to sit for 2 to 3 hours. Repeat the process twice daily for a couple of weeks.

Essential Oils:

Adding some essential oils such as lavender or chamomile oils to your bath can soothe the skin in melanoma patients. Avoid using bergamot oil as it enhances sun sensitivity of the skin.

Rosemary:

You can obtain Carnosol that has antioxidant and anti-cancer properties from Rosemary. The herb can be applied to the skin to reduce burning sensation caused by radiation and chemotherapy.

Sandalwood Paste:

Application of sandalwood paste can combat the burning sensation or extreme dryness. It will alleviate and soothe irritation of the skin. This is a natural remedy that will not interfere with any medication or treatment that you may be undergoing.

Compresses:

Both cold and hot packs can be used to relieve stiff muscles and aching joints if you suffer from acute pain. Simply wet a cloth in either cold or warm water and hold it on the affected areas for relief from pain and stiffness.

Acupuncture:

Acupuncture is used for treating various disease and works on the principle of locating the nerve responsible for the particular ailment and activating it through a needle prick. While it helps reduce the pain, it is also good for removing the bad effects of chemotherapy. Acupuncture is one of the best natural cures for skin cancer.

Meditation and Yoga:

Yoga are great home remedies for Melanoma. Meditation combined with a regular yoga practice can help in maintaining good physical and mental health. It assists you in relieving stress, helps you to learn to handle depression, anxiety and increases your energy levels as well. It keeps the mind fresh and the body in peak condition so that it does not get affected by diseases easily. Yoga helps boost the immunity system and keeps all the organs working to their maximum capacity.
There are several Yoga Asanas for curing Melanoma which include Hasta Asana or the hand to foot pose, Trikonasana or the triangle pose or sideways bend, the Bhunjagasana or Cobra pose and many more. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after trying these for a long period.
The chances of contracting it is higher in those individuals who are exposed to the ultra violet rays of sun. So preventing exposure to sunlight can reduce the risk of developing melanoma. However, a deficiency of sunlight can also escalate the chances of melanoma. Vitamin D which can be obtained from sunlight is used to repair malignant or damaged cells. Hence, optimum levels should be maintained by the body.
