Jowai is famous for its scenic setting and breathtaking views that is located in the Jaintia Hills district. The place is a rich mix of heritage and cultures which reflects in the lifestyle of the town folks. Lakes are the main attraction of Jowai. The Thadlaskein Lake and Lalong Park are the famous tourists hot spots. Syntu Ksiar is also a popular destination on the shores of river Myntdu.

Tryshi Falls are compared with the Elephant falls of Shillong. There is a bridge that connect the surroundings of waterfall with an expanse of green paddy fields. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Pynthor Nein is visible from the bridge. A trek to the bottom of the falls will be a amazing experience.

Krang Suri is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the District that is located in the Amlarem Civil Sub Division. 

Although Monoliths exist throughout the length and breadth of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, the largest collection of monoliths lies in Nartiang Monoliths.

The remnants of the 'Summer Palace' can be found here. The archway of the site has been made using red bricks. 

Umlawan Caves are the deepest and largest caves of the sub-continent. These caves are interconnected with the Kot Sati and Umskor Caves which are 100 m deep and 21km long. Innumerable stalagmites and stalactites add to the look of these caves.  

Jarain Pitcher Plant Lake is surrounded by the fascinating carnivorous pitcher plants those are spread over 50,000 sq. m proves to be a unique sight for all. A fountain shaped like a pitcher plant has been installed in the middle of the lake.

This pretty lake is surrounded by gravelled footpaths, arch bridges, pitcher plant garden and green house-interpretation centre. Boat rides in this lake are a great experience.

Syntu Ksair which literally means 'flower of gold' is located on the banks of Minted river. This is the centre of the freedom struggle led by Kiang Rambagh. A memorial has also been set up here in honour of him.
