The mesmerizing village of Mawsynram is known as one of the wettest place in the world that is located in the East Khasi Hill district of Meghalaya. It is a perfect destination to behold the beauty of the rains.

Mawsynram is 1400 m above sea level. The rains are so powerful in Mawsynram that the local villagers have to make use of thick grass to sound-proof their homes from the thunderous rain. The 'Maw' in Mawsynram is a Khasi word meaning 'stone'. It symbolizes the unique megaliths unearthed in the Khasi Hill area. The village is well known for its huge formation of a stalagmite, which takes after the shape of a 'Shivling'.

Mawsmai Caves are holy caves of the Khasis is in the Mawsmai village. The cave is almost 150 m long and it is easy to pass through. The Mawsmai caves are an ideal location for cave exploration and cave diving.

Mawsmai Falls, also known as Nohsngithiang Falls and Seven Sisters Falls are situated a little away from Mawsynram. It is the fourth highest waterfall in India with a height of 1,035 ft. It is a seven-segmented waterfall, which rushes over the top of limestone cliffs of the Khasi Hills and they only flow during the rainy season.

Nohkalikai fall is situated about five km from Mawsynram. It is the fifth highest waterfall of India and water falls from a height of 1,000 ft unstoppably from the highest peak to the bottom of the falls making it a point of tourist attraction.  

Mawlyngbna is known for rich fossils and a natural geyser that is situated about 25 km away from Mawsynram.

Cherrapunjee, referred to as Sohra and Churra is about 15 km from Mawsynram. It is known as the second wettest place of this earth and the only place in India to receive rainfall the entire year long.
