MSME Registration Procedure

The Registration of MSME that stands for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises can be obtained through the MSME act in both manufacturing line or service line.

Although this registration is not yet made mandatory by the Government but it is beneficial to get registered under this as it provides a lot of benefits in terms of taxation, setting up the business, credit facilities, loans etc.   The act was established to promote, facilitate and develop the competitiveness of the micro, small and medium enterprises. 

The Procedure for MSME Registration: 


The Registration of MSME can be done in the government portal of udyamregistration.gov.in. The registration of MSMEs can be done under two categories. For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME and For existing Entrepreneurs those who are registered as EM-II or UAM and who have registered as EM-II or UAM through Assisted filing. The Aadhar and PAN number of the entrepreneur is required to be entered in the registration form. 

Registration With PAN Card: New registration of MSME can be done by clicking the button “For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME” and entering the Aadhaar card number either with PAN Card or without PAN Card. After entering the Aadhaar number and the name of the entrepreneur for new registration of MSME, 'Validate and Generate OTP Button' has to be clicked through which the the the process of validation will be completed. The portal gets the PAN details from the government databases and automatically fills details on the page if the entrepreneur has a PAN Card. However, the ITR details has to be filled by the entrepreneur. A message appears as 'Udyam Registration has already been done through this PAN' once PAN details are entered and the 'Validate PAN' button needs to be clicked by the entrepreneur. The Udyam Registration box will appear after verification of PAN and the personal details and details of the plant or industry needs to be filled by the entrepreneurs. The 'Submit and Get Final OTP' button need to be clicked once the details are filled which will complete the registration process of the MSME with a message of successful registration and reference number. The Udyam Registration Certificate is issued after verification of registration. 

Registration Without PAN Card: The button 'For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME' is to be clicked for Registration Without PAN Card. After entering the Aadhaar number and the name of the entrepreneur in the page for registration, 'Validate and Generate OTP Button' has to be clicked by the entrepreneur through which the the the process of validation will be completed. The 'No' option under the heading 'Do you have PAN?' hass to be clicked if the entrepreneur does not have a PAN Card. Then the entrepreneur has to click on 'Next. button. The Udyam Registration page opens where the entrepreneur should enter his personal details and plant or industry detail after the 'Next' button is clicked. A thank you message will appear with the registration number after 'Final Submit' has been clicked. The PAN and GSTIN needs to be updated on the portal within 1st April of the year of registration to avoid suspension of Udyam Registration. 

Registration For Entrepreneurs Already Having EM-II Or UAM: The button 'For those having registration as EM-II or UAM' or 'For those having registration as EM-II or UAM through Assisted filing' has to be clicked for those already having registration as EM-II or UAM. Udyog Aadhaar Number is to be entered on the next page and an OTP option should be selected which will send an OTP on mobile as filled in UAM or obtain OTP on email as filled UAM. 'Validate and Generate OTP' has to be clicked after choosing the OTP Options. Registration details has to be filled and udyam registration will be completed after entering OTP.
