Walnuts are a rich source of mono saturated fats and omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial for health, skin and hair. This is one of the healthiest foods that must be included in your diet. The benefits of walnut for hair is as below:

Reduces Hair Fall:

One of the major causes of hair loss is deficiency of selenium. As walnut is rich in selenium and Biotin (vitamin B7) and both of these vitamins helps prevent hair loss.
Therefore consuming walnuts on a daily basis can prevent balding in both men and women. It is recommended to eat a handful of walnuts every day for long, strong tresses.

Strengthens Hair:

  • Crush 10-15 walnut shells roughly and immerse them in boiling water for 30 minutes
  • Cool the liquid and strain the shells
  • Separate the strands on your head that you want to dye
  • With the help of a cotton ball, apply the liquid over those strands
  • Leave your hair like that for at least an hour
  • Rinse your hair with some water and a mild shampoo and conditioner. It keeps the nutrients locked in, without drying your hair out
  • Don't use hot water to wash your hair for a week, otherwise the dye may wash off.

  • They also contain a relatively high percentage of a healthy omega-3 fat called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). This makes up around 8–14% of the total fat content.
  • In fact, walnuts are the only nuts that contain significant amounts of ALA.
  • ALA is considered to be especially beneficial for heart health. It also helps reduce inflammation and improve the composition of blood fats, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.
  • ALA is also a precursor for the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which have been linked with numerous health benefits.
  • Walnuts are an excellent source of several vitamins and minerals, including copper, folic acid, phosphrous, vitamin B6, manganese and vitamin E.
  • Walnuts are one of the richest dietary sources of antioxidants. These include ellagic acid, ellagitannins, catechin and melatonin.
