Winter Skin Care Tips

Although different skin type reacts differently in the winter, but in general, many experience their skin becoming extra sensitive, drying and peeling off.

Cold weather, dry wind and bright sunlight in winter can make your skin dull and rough. Your skin gets drier when temperature drops in winter. The natural moisture of your skin will evaporate because of temperature difference between the cold outdoors and the dry, warm indoors, which can cause you to experience patches of oily and dry skin.
Although different skin type reacts differently in the winter, but in general, many experience their skin becoming extra sensitive, drying and peeling off.
Your normal skincare regimen will not be enough for this tough season.
Therefore you need to add some extra care to your routine. Follow the below tips for winter skin care:

Change to a Cleaning Oil:

Cleaning oil is the base for a good skincare regardless of the season. Replace your usual cleansing product with a 'non-comedogenic' cleaning oil which doesn't block pores in winter so that it can efficiently cleans away dirt and make-up and can be washed off completely. As it is not greasy, it will give you a smooth feeling after cleaning.

Use Toner:

Remember to clean your skin thoroughly before going to bed and apply toner to lock the moisture. Also wipe a facial toner across your face in the morning to freshen up without damaging the skin's lipid cover. This will keep moisture in your skin from evaporating.

Do Enzyme Peeling:

You need to remove old skin cells that prevent moisture from getting into your skin when your skin is dry. For this you need to do an enzyme peeling about twice a week. The enzyme peeling works chemically by eating old skin cells without affecting the remaining skin too much. As the small grinding grains can irritate your skin which has become sensitive from the weather, be careful while doing a mechanical peeling.

Apply a good quality night cream:

Invest in a good night cream that will work while you sleep. Put on a moisturizing, overnight facial mask regularly. Apply a protective cream that is especially prepared to protect your skin, if you will be outdoors for long periods of time. Also, remember to add a sunscreen cream if you are in a sunny winter landscape.

Nourish your body:

Include some extra antioxidants and plenty of Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 in your diet. Nuts and fruits can provide you with essential nutrients. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and drink enough water to keep you hydrated. Exercise in any form increases the blood circulation in the skin, which contributes to making your skin suppler and softer. So regular exercise or physical activities is a must do thing in winter.

Add AHA and Vitamin-C :

It can be a great idea to do a face peel with alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA). It is not advisable to do treatments with AHA during the summer, as the sun can then damage the skin and create pigmentation spots. However, even in the winter it is absolutely necessary to use a sunscreen to protect your skin after an AHA treatment.
You should be careful with any type of acid treatment, such as AHA if you have a very sensitive skin, suffer from rosacea or have an eczema-like rash.
Treatment with Vitamin C gives your skin the luster back and magically removes signs of tired winter skin.
